She was employed with Highland Yarn Mills for 20 plus years. She also worked for the family business “This N That” for several years alongside her son. She later became employed at First Student until her health started to decline.
Jackie was an active member at Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church for many years where she served as a Deaconess and a greeter on the Greeters Team. She later attended New Beginnings Full Gospel Ministries up until her passing.
Jackie was a woman of faith and a true believer in Christ. She always had a smile on her face and made sure to leave you with a scripture and a prayer. Because of her lively personality and gentle nature, everyone respected and loved her. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and cooking homemade, delicious meals for those she loved. Her beautiful spirit and radiating smile effected the lives of many, and she was truly an angel here on earth.
On Thursday, March 30, 2023, Jackie entered eternal rest at her home after her battle with cancer. Her father, mother, two sisters; Judy Byers, and Marian Hayes, and one brother, Reginald Byers preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories two children: Fatina Byers and Georges Byers; five grandchildren: Crystal McDuffie, Joshua Byers, Desmond Lucas, Amber Byers-Alford, and Lexus Byers; three great-grandchildren: Kelvin Middlebrook, Kelmiah Middlebrook, and Kelsie Middlebrook; four sisters: Marie (Jerry) Garrison, Evangelist Cynthia (Roman) Henry, Vonda Byers, Jaqueline Kay Byers; two brothers: Douglas Byers and Rashard Johnson. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many close friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at New Beginning Full Gospel Ministries. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
