In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Day Beamer Clark, maternal grandparents, William and Martha Spencer and paternal grandmother, Maude Tidline.
Tony graduated from Martinsville High School in 1972 and earned his associate degree in business from National Business College. Tony had a love for cooking and was known as one of the best food enthusiasts in Martinsville and Henry County. Tony enjoyed people- his personality would radiate a room. He never met a stranger. He was a life-long resident of Martinsville and Henry County, having lived in California for a brief time. Tony retired from Blue Ridge Nursing Home due to illness.
He leaves to cherish two sons, Ron Glass of Roanoke, VA, and William Gwyn of Martinsville, VA, a daughter, Meagan Alexander of Upper Marlboro, MD, and six grandchildren. Tony also leaves behind two sisters, Arnetta Patterson and Ressie Mae Carter of Martinsville, VA, two brothers, Hasten Beamer, III of Petersburg, VA, and Michael Beamer of Martinsville, VA, and a life partner, Sara Walker of the home, her son, Josh Walker of Highpoint, NC. Tony will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home with Pastor Matthew Brown, Eulogist. The burial will be private. A public viewing will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home, 308 Virginia St., Martinsville, VA.
