Lovingly called “Nuka” by family and friends she was a member of Bethany Baptist Church of Jamestown, NC under the leadership of Pastor Ronnie Middlebrooks.
Nuka loved her family and enjoyed all sorts of family events and making memories. She was a second mom to all of her nieces and nephews- and many family friends; “my children” as she would say.
She left her earthly home survived by two sons; Kenneth “Ron” Nelson (Jessica) and Quentin D. McCoy (Danika); two bonus children, LaPorsha McCoy and Timothy McCoy Jr. (TJ); seven grandchildren; two brothers, Gary Ezell (Kimika) and Jeffrey C. Saulter (Kim); also, her oldest niece whom she considered more of a sister than a niece; Tonita G. Foxx along with a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other dear family members whom she loved dearly. As she had a great love for outdoors; the family would like to Thank You all for helping us to make this a Great Celebration of Life and for all the outpouring love that has been shown during this difficult time. Thank you from the Family of Avis Nelson.
A celebration of Life for Avis L. Nelson will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at City Lake Park, Shelter#9, 602 West Main Street, Jamestown, NC.
