Dorothy was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Missionary, Sunday School, the Senior Choir, United Choir, Church Clerk, and the Usher Board. Dorothy retired from Centel/Sprint Telephone Co. as an Administrative Specialist after 30 plus years of service. She was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School class of 1959.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Harrison Redd, Jr. of the home; one son, Derrick O. Redd of Martinsville, VA; two daughters, Radonna R. Witcher (Ricky) of Eden, NC, and Rolanda R. Stockton (Michael) of Martinsville, VA; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; four sisters, A. Beatrice Nappier of Ridgeway, VA, Mary Lou Martin of Clinton Township, MI, Peggy Jones (Curtis) of Philadelphia, PA, and Cassie Martin of Martinsville, VA; two brothers, Harrison Martin (Kizzie) of Harper Woods, MI, and Dennis Martin (Deidra) of Chantilly, VA; two sisters-in-law, Leadell R. Watkins of Axton, VA, and Dorothy R. Scales of Stoneville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2700 Soapstone Rd., Ridgeway, VA with Dr. William C. Randolph, Eulogist. Burial will follow at the Redd Family Cemetery, Old Chatham Rd., Martinsville. A public viewing will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. The family will be receiving friends on Friday at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville. The family ask that you observe all COVID 19 guidelines.
