Yvonne “Vonnie” Ja’net Dent Thomas was born on April 10, 1937, to the late Daniel Richard Dent Sr. and Margaret Thrower in Trenton NJ. She served in the Navy and was a proud Veteran. She arrived on a train in downtown Sarasota, where she lived as a Newtown Resident/Champion for over 55 years. She is known as Sister Yvonne or Minister Thomas. She proudly ministered, served and loved the Newtown Community Family!!

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents: Daniel Richard Dent, Sr. and Margaret Thrower (Moreland); brothers: Daniel Richard Dent, Jr, Milton Moreland and Julian Moreland Sr.; sister: Earnestine Shurylan Moreland.

Yvonne is survived by her two sons: Morgan Lee Dent (Maria), Troy Richard Thomas (LaWanda Byrd); sister, Margaret “Pam” Mitchell; brother, Charles Moreland (Joyce); and sister, Florrie “Yvette” Moreland; and a host of cousins, nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Apr. 28, 2023 at Jones Funeral Home. Services will be held 4:00pm on Apr. 29, 2023 at Mount Calvary First Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements by Jones Funeral Home.
