On Saturday morning, May 6th 2023, Melvina Wilson Ross, 83 of Shelby, NC moved to her heavenly home. Melvina was a godly woman who loved the Lord, her family, and her church. She set an example of faith, love and worship for her family and community.
Melvina was born in Cleveland County, NC on August 14, 1939 to the late John Columbus and Annie Howell Wilson. She was married for 57 years to the late Robert Ross.
Melvina loved her savior the Lord Jesus and she loved God’s word. Melvina was a powerful prayer warrior, and only heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact all her many years of faithfully praying has had on her family, friends and the world at large. She was a mentor to many, known by her unforgettable hugs and kisses. She was a faithful member of Washington Missionary Baptist Church.
Melvina was employed by Modern Ploymers as a Data-Shipping Processor for 18 years.
Melvina believed in christian education and mission ministry of the church. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, choir member, VBS teacher, and led the Women’s Auxiliary Missionary Department in Washington, Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Association, Cleveland County Union and District III Group 1. She also served the Worthy Matron of Love Chapter No.9 of the Eastern Stars.
One of her greatest contributions to the community was helping as a Food Pantry Coordinator along with Rev. Francis Webber, Evelyn Haynes and Fannie Dickerson of Washington Baptist Church Food Ministry which has developed into Washington Outreach Ministry. To this day 15,000 people are served monthly.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Robert Ross, her son, Melvin Ross, her granddaughter Faith Webber and her brother James Wilson.
Melvina is survived by her children Thomas Ross (LeVonda), Charles Ross (Mary), Audrey Webber (Pastor Charles), Ronald Ross(Brenda), Douglas Ross(Linda), Vincent Ross (LaKita).12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Her siblings Annie Sue Wilson, Robert Wilson ( Shirley), Evelyn ( R.B. deceased), Jersey Wilson(Debra), Bendatra(Danny). Her aunts, Ruby Mackey and Carolyn Wilson , in-laws, Josephine Hunt, Joseph Ross(Jessie), and a host nieces,nephews, cousins and godchildren.

“To whom be glory for ever and ever and ever. Amen”

“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 1:30 PM at Washington Missionary Baptist Church. The service will be livestreamed starting at 1:15 PM from Enloe’s Mortuary Facebook Page. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:30 PM and from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM daily at her home. She may be viewed also on Thursday May 11, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Enloe Mortuary. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
