FLINT--The celebration of life for Coach Booker T. Bowie, 68, is scheduled for 12 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Grace Community High School Auditorium with Pastor Vincent Bowie serving as eulogist. Booker Bowie was born on January 23, 1955 in Tyler, Texas to the late Luther Bowie Sr. and Margaret Branham Bowie. He passed away peacefully at his home on Friday May 5, 2023. Booker was currently a football coach at Grace Community School. His absolute passion was coaching sports, especially football. His trademark was always having a towel over his shoulder during the games. Coach Bowie coached all over the East Texas area, starting at Whitehouse High School in the late 1970’s. He, also, coached at the following schools: Lindale, Robert E. Lee, Kilgore, Chapel Hill, and Palestine. He left a lasting impression on every student he encountered. Coaching was his passion, but his second love was BBQing, with ribs and turkey legs being his specialty.

He leaves behind his loving mother, Margaret Bowie, two daughters Kalyn and Kristin, two sisters Rosie Johnson and Mary Johnson, and three brothers Luther Bowie, Frederick Bowie and Ernest Bowie.

A celebration of life will be held at Grace Community High School on Saturday May 13,2023 at 12:00pm. Visitation is scheduled from 2:00pm-8:00pm on Friday May 12, 2023, at John R. Harmon Undertaking Company.

Coach was one of a kind. He cared for every student and had their best interest at heart. The love he showed at Palestine was unmeasurable and long lasting. He left an everlasting affect and will be remembered most by the "Bowie Towel." Rest well my friend, rest well. The Hall Family- Palestine, TexasπŸ’—
