Mrs. Imogene Copeland Burnette was born on August 23, 1942, to the late Mrs. Hattie Mae Andrews Copeland and the late Mr. Charlie Clarence Copeland in Woodland, GA. She received her early education at the Collins School in Thomaston, GA. At an early age, she joined the Flint River Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on the Mother’s Ministry. She was an active member throughout her lifetime and remained faithful until her health began to decline.

At the tender age of twenty-one, she met and married Mr. Raymond Andrew Burnette. They were joined in holy matrimony on November 16,1963, but he preceded her in death.

During her leisure time, she enjoyed going to church. She possessed a strong faith in God and trusted him throughout her illness. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, going on family outings, shopping, visiting friends in the neighborhood and watching TV-10 Gospel program every Sunday. The motto she lived by and taught her children was, “Do what you say you are going to do.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Rose Gennell Copeland-Fields, Mattie Louise Carreker, and Annie Rose Walton; five brothers, Charles Clarence Copeland, Jasper Lee Copeland, Dennis Lee Copeland, Johnny Calvin Copeland and M.C. Andrews. On Monday May 8, 2023, the Lord called her name. She answered the call, and her spirit took flight and went home to eternal rest. She will be greatly missed by her family, church family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memory, five children, Mr. Lester (Betty) Copeland of McDonough, GA, Mr. Bruce (Crystal) Ferguson of Thomaston, GA, Ms. Cynthia Burnette of Thomaston, GA, Mrs. Constance (Freddy) Walker of Locust Grove, GA and Mr. Ronnie (Stephanie) Burnette of Enterprise, AL; fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mary Joyce Copeland of Thomaston, GA and Mrs. Louise Willis Copeland of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends
