Obituary For Mrs. Rachel Alsobrooks Haywood

Remembering the 84 years, 10 months, and 20 days NOT the death day of a Mom, Widow, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister, Aunt and Friend.

Rachel Lavern Alsobrook Haywood temporary earthly life ended and she transitioned to be with the Lord on Monday, May 8, 2023, 1:30pm, at Atrium Health Cabarrus, Concord, NC.

Rachel was born in Richmond County, Nc on Wednesday, June 15, 1938 to the late Robert Alsobrook and Easter Belle Harris Alsobrook.

She confessed life at an early age and joined Parson Grove Baptist Church, Exway, NC. She enjoyed looking at Jimmy Swaggart Ministry. Rachel was educated in the Richmond County School System and was a 1957 graduate of Mineral Springs High School.

Rachel was employed at various places on her journey. She retired from Gilead Manufacturing in Mount Gilead and then started her own business: Rays Apparel where she sewed and made lingerie, jam shorts and shirts. She loved having the company of her family and friends. She also loved to shop from the QVC and HSN home channels.

Queen Bee, Momma would want you to do things and would want you to have it done before she told you what she wanted done.

Rachel was joined in marriage to the late Sylvester “Tibb” Haywood on Sunday, April 16, 1961 and from this union two children were born, Sylvia and the late Kenneth Sebastian Haywood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, James Walter, Bobby and William Alsobrook; sister, Sarah Steed; son-in-law, Fred (Cartoon) Little; father and mother-in-law, Walter and Lillie Haywood; brothers-in-law, Lenzo, RB and Lester Haywood; sisters-in-laws, Sena Bee Alsobrook, Hattie Lee Miller, Annie Mae Thomas and Alice Lee Pankey.

She leaves to cherish her daughter, Sylvia M.H. Little of Mt. Gilead, NC; stepson, Michael L. Nicholson of Mt. Gilead, NC (caregiver); granddaughter, Jasmine Coleman and grandson, Jarrett Little both of High Point, NC; great grandsons, Omari, Ja-Kari, and Davari Coleman of High Point, NC; sister, Mary Alsobrook (caregiver) and brother, Thomas Alsobrook (Shirley) of Mt. Gilead, NC; special nephew, Todd Thomas (caregiver); sisters-in-law, Edna Mae Alsobrook and Mary Helen Alsobrook; special friend, Naomi Bogans (whom she took naps with while sitting around, going from talking to sleeping); friends: Joyce Chambers, Sarah Eudy, and Mary Caple. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

The Homegoing and Memorial Service will be on Saturday, May 20, 2023, 11:00am, in the Chapel of Smith's Funeral Home, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
