Mr. John Albert Pierce was born on March 16, 1953, to the late Mrs. Florence Virgina King and the late Mr. U. S. Pierce in Thomaston, Upson County, GA. He received his early education in the public school of Upson County, attending Lincoln Park elementary and middle schools and Drake High School. At an early age, he joined the Friendship Baptist Church; and, as a young man, he later united with the Mary Lizzie Baptist Church.

When he was of age, John began working at Piggy Park. He held many jobs including Ed Tavern and Thomaston Mills. He moved to Atlanta and found work at several motels and hotels. After moving back home, he was employed by R.E. Lee High School as a custodian. One of his greatest accomplishments that made him most proud was earning his GED.

During his leisure time, he enjoyed playing pool. He was considered as one of Thomaston’s pool sharks. He enjoyed walking, playing his scratch-offs, singing, spending time with family and friends, especially his nieces and nephews and getting on their last nerve. John loved talking with others, and he never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents. On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, the Lord called his name. His spirit took flight and went home to eternal rest. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends in the Triune Avenue community.

John leaves to cherish his memory, five sisters, Mrs. Martha (Rev. J. D. Walker, Mrs. Gwendolyn (James) Donegan of Las Vega, NV, Mrs. Henrietta (Alton) Harris of Thomaston, Mrs. Mary (Eric) Trice and. Ms. Renita King both of Macon, GA; two brothers, Mr. Gary (Ellen) King of Decatur, GA and Mr. Kenneth (Isik) Woodard of Minneapolis, MN; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
