Thomas Ferrial Chambers, affectionately known as “Butch”, departed this life on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at home with family and Liberty Hospice Chaplain by his side. He was born in Washington, D.C. on September 1, 1940 to Jewel Scott Chambers (deceased) and Archie Chambers (deceased).

Thomas gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church where he was a faithful member until his health declined. He visited the sick at home, hospitals and nursing homes. This gave him great joy. He loved people and always had a joke or something to make you smile. He was known for passing out flyers about Christ leading to folk coming to Christ. He would always invite folk to church.

Early in life, Thomas/Butch worked as a milk deliverer for Sealtest as a teenager. Various other employment i.e., Ballet Hosiery Mill, Wansona Manufacturing, Bowman’s Restaurant, Kenville, and Duff Norton. His last job was at Southern Correctional Institution in Troy, N.C. where he worked for 21½ years, then retired. He enjoyed Deep Sea fishing and playing pool. He was called “8BALL.”

Thomas/Butch was preceded in death by his six siblings: Carolyn Harden, Violet Clautterbuck, Edward Chambers, Glen Chambers, Kenneth Chambers and Barbara Buchanon.
