Mrs. Helen Jeanette Streater Rhone

Mrs. Helen Jeanette Streater Rhone was born in Washington, DC on October 1, 1948 to the late Rev. Junior Streater and Helen Rodgers Streater. She received her heavenly wings on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Atrium Heath-Carolinas Medical Center.

She is married to Elmer Clayton Rhone and to that union one son was born as they shared a son and daughter between them.

Helen, also known as “Tinnie,” graduated Class of 1966 from J.R. Faison High School. She later worked for Chic Hosiery, Fruit Of The Loom and Hornwood. She was recognized several times for her work ethics (Employee Of The Month). Helen was known as a woman of few words but had a beautiful caring heart. She was a “True Mother Hen” when it came to the welfare and well-being of her family.

At an early age she confessed her life to Christ and joined Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member since childhood. She served on Ebenezer Usher Board which was dear to her heart.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Streater, her father, Rev. Junior Streater, and a “Baby” Brother, Anthony Streater.

Mrs. Rhone is survived by her husband of 42 years, Elmer C. Rhone; two sons: Warren Streater, Darren Rhone (Hollie) and one stepdaughter, Deidre Rhone. Four grandchildren: Nicole Streater, Aubrey Rhone, Amelia Rhone and Aaron Rhone, six stepgrandchildren. Three sisters: Shirley Streater, Virginia Streater-Little, and Leslie McNeil (Henry). Four brothers: Robert Streater, James Streater, Sidney Streater (Queen) and Ervin Streater.

She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

The Homegoing Services will be on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be at Westview Memorial Park, Highway 74-West, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
