Obituary For William Lyons III

William Martin Lyons, III, 80, of Radcliff, KY died Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at his residence.

He was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church ; a member of the VFW and DAV; a member of the Ronald D. Scott Masonic Lodge # 119; a retired SFC from the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce; a grandson; Damarie; a brother Eric Lyons.

He is survived by three daughters, Markita Lyons-Gilbert, Akella Lyons and Shanika Lyons-Marnell (Derek); a son, Carlos Holder (Pansy); nine grandchildren, Brianna and William Edmunds, Kilah Childress, Tiara and Dwayne Gilbert, Taylor Lyons-McCarthy, Marquecia Cook, Lekeia and Carlos Holder, Jr.; two great grandchildren, Amare' Neal and Aveyanna Jones; his brother, Larry Lyons; his sister, Renee Settles (James).

The funeral is at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at Percell & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.

Visitation after 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Percell & Sons in Elizabethtown.

My heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Lyons. He was a very sweet man and usually had a smile on his face. I pray that God will send His Comforter to be with the family during this time of bereavement. Continued prayers for you all.

I used to see Mr Billy at all the sporting events at North and FKHS. I didn't know his name at the time or that he was Markita's Dad. But he was always around and always supportive. First face I saw after we (North) lost to Fort Knox in overtime in 1981-82. Told me to keep my head up. I never forgot that. Patrick Pearson
