Mrs. Florence Mae Williams was born on October 12, 1946 in Quitman, Georgia to the late Mr. Eleazer Howard and Mrs. Vailee Mickens Howard. She was affectionately known to all as “Flossie”.
Mrs. Flossie was educated in the Brooks County School system. She was a lifelong resident of Quitman, Georgia. She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Arthur Williams, Sr. Their union flourished until his passing in 2016.
Mrs. Flossie was a dedicated employee of the Brooks County Board of Education from 1994 until 2014. She worked diligently until her retirement from the Quitman Elementary School in Quitman, Georgia. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren whom she loved and they loved her dearly.
On May 26, 2023, our Lord and Savior called His child from labor to reward. Mrs. Flossie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters Eula Lee White, Rosa Howard, Murline Howard and Gladys Demps; three brothers L. Z. Howard, Thomas Howard and Willie Howard.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her son Arthur Williams, Jr. (Teresa), Quitman, GA; daughters Sharon Ferrell, Quitman, GA, Idella Williams, Valdosta, GA, Barbara Scott (Derek), Valdosta, GA and India Hollis (Alex), Quitman, GA; three stepchildren Anthony Williams (Tara) Lumberton, NJ; Robert Watts, Quitman, GA and Dorothy Spencer, Delray Beach, FL; one bonus child Hunter New, Miami, FL; grandchildren: Wesley, Leticha, Sherika (Josh), Allison, Cassondra (Desmond), Kelvin, Whitney (Tevin), Derek, Tanisha, Jessica, Cierra, Adrian, Justin (Moesha), Veronica, Arthur III, Myrical, Areona, Nia and Jartavious and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends including her close friends Katie Small and Mattie Freeman.
Visitation will be Friday, June 2, 2023 at the Stevens-McGhee chapel from 1PM-7PM.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 3PM at Calvary Christian Center with Pastor Gloria Moore Wright, officiating. Burial will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
