We share the loss of Charles THICKEY Dawkins, my great friend and loving classmate. He was always full of humor and kindness. One day, our senior class became a little rowdy. Charles headed to the front of the class and started some kind of comedy routine. All of a sudden, he bellowed out "I MY!" The class burst out in laughter. Never heard that before. Miss Cooper had a time getting class back in order when she returned. Well, over 60 years have passed and the question remains: What did he mean by "I MY!"? Well, one of these days, when we all are walking the Milky Highway, somebody, somebody, please ask Charles what was the meaning. May the Lord continue to bless the Dawkins family, friends, neighbors, classmates, and all of God's children. Traveling alone, as we all must do. We ask the Lord to provide comfort and protect Charles as Charles heads to his home of eternal peace and rest. James Allen Maybin B.E. "My most sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Dawkins family. I met Thicky in the mid 70's in Columbia, S.C. as he managed a men's clothing store called "CHANGE ON YOU" on Main street Columbia. I worked and modeled for "FASHIONS UNLIMITED", which was next door and the first black owned clothing store on Main street. Thicky's walk would capture everybody's attention, walked with a lot of class and confidence(knowing he was sharp). A great man that always held your attention when he spoke. Gonna miss this dude. However, the angels above awaits his arrival, with him sanging away as he stroll and "walk around Heaven". i pray GOD'S strength upon Ms. Dawkins, Robin and the entire family....know this: "GOD IS PLEASED"!

Our hearts ache right now. While we know "Thicky" is at peace, he will definitely be missed. I grew up living next to y'all all of my life and he definitely served as another father to me and Reggie. When our son would come and visit, you would stand in the backyard with him so that he could watch the trains pass by. We love you but God loves you best❀️❀️ Love, Dr. Marrissa "Shan" Clark Walker & Family

Uncle, Boy, this hit me like a TON of bricks.... I'm missing you Uncle Thicky. I'm going to miss you talking about me stealing your Mustang (age 15). You were a caring and fun person. I had the pleasure of growing up knowing you and we (cousins) calling you Uncle Thicky, because you were truly a great husband to our Aunt Genovia. You fought a good fight but the battle is won. Rest in peace and we love you always β€οΈπŸ™πŸΌπŸ•ŠοΈπŸ•ŠοΈπŸŒΉ
