Obituary For Mr. Walter King

Mr. Walter King passed on Sunday, June 4, 2023.

Funeral Services was held Saturday June 10, 2023 at 12'0 clock at Whites Chapel CME Church in Barnesville, Ga. 30204

Mr. Walter Lewis King, more affectionately known as “Teenie Boy,” was born on July 8, 1933,
in Barnesville, Lamar County, GA to the parents of the late Mr. Willie King and the late Mrs.
Annie Maude King. He was educated in the Lamar County School System and attended the
Barnesville Industrial School.

As a young man, Walter enlisted in the U. S. Army. He served his country for over twenty years
before being honorably discharged. After leaving the military, he made Denver, CO his home
for over 50 years. He became employed with the Denver School System as a Security Guard.
He would later seek employment with Save-Way Grocery Store as a Meat Cutter. He also
worked at the local golf course, where he gained a love of all things golf. He became an avid
golfer and enjoyed playing the game with his friends.

Walter became united in holy matrimony with Mrs. Myra King. They enjoyed many years of
marriage until she preceded him in death. He was a member of VFW Post in Denver, CO. After
transitioning back to Barnesville, he became a lifetime member of VFW Post 6542. He was also
a member of the Masonic Lodge #67.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sisters, Willie Maude King, Carrie Lee King,
and Ollie Mae Battle; brothers, Jim King, Arthur King, Pete King, Moses King, and Henry King;
and a dear friend, Richard Miller. On June 4, 2023, the Lord decided that the time of his journey
had come to an end. He was called home to his eternal resting place.

Walter leaves to cherish his wonderful memories a caring and devoted niece, Patsy K. Mann;
other nieces, Margaret Britt, Alfreda Battle and Phyllis Battle of Barnesville, GA, Susan Sneed
of Macon, GA, Annie (Alvin) Smith, Betty (Jimmy) Johnson, Sheila DuBose, Iesha King, Mary
King, Christina King, and Jasmine King all of Orlando, FL; four nephews, Peter King of
Macon, GA, Terry (Belinda) King of Hinesville, GA, Rickey (Harriett) King of Warner Robins,
GA, and Andrew King of Orlando, FL; a step-daughter, Perry Lee Simon of Denver, CO;
devoted friends, Dollie Miller, Ada Johnson, Stan Fletcher, Lisa Caslin, Gwen Braswell,
Charlene Reid, Melvin Mann and Lucious Bentley; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews,
step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cousins and other family and friends.

Walt and I worked together at City Park Golf Course. He was a devoted clubhouse member and enjoyed the company of all the people that loved him after his shift. He was such an awesome man. So kind, loving and respectful to everyone around him. I'm going to miss you buddy, especially at Christmas. I will hang an ornament just for you forever until we meet again. Xoxo, Cristina

I first met Walt at Fitzsimmons Army Base on the golf course. We played together for years they are in at City Park downtown. We talked all the time and I called him Dad. Donna and I loved him dearly and had him in our home many times to eat. He loves the most kids and us very much and we will miss him dearly.Dan & Donna Kelly
