James Edward Mooneyhan, son of the late Chalmers H. Mooneyhan, Sr. and Emily Craft Mooneyhan was born September 7, 1959 in Sumter, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by four brothers, John Henry (Dottie) Cooper, Howard Lee Cooper, Chalmers Henry Mooneyhan, Jr. and David “Tootie” Anthony Mooneyhan.

He received his formal education in the public schools of Sumter County, Sumter, South Carolina. He graduated from Sumter High School Class of 1977.

He was employed with the Sumter Plastic Company in Sumter, South Carolina.

He was joined in holy matrimony to Mozell Coleman Mooneyhan.

On Tuesday, June 6, 2023, James Edward Mooneyhan transitioned to his heavenly home at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, South Carolina.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories a loving wife, Mozell Coleman Mooneyhan of the home; four stepsons: Christopher Brockington of the home, Isaac (Bertha) Brockington, Gable, SC, Terry Brockington, Horatio, SC and Billy (Katosha Graham) Brockington, St. John, SC; one stepdaughter, Carlden (Rodney) Steward, New Zion, SC; thirteen step grandchildren, Jermel Brockington, Breanna Brockington, Tyrell Brockington, Tyreke Brockington, Jasmine Brockington, Dasha Ham, Javier Brockington, Sterling Brockington, Shakeya Brockington, Tara Brockington, Devyne Brockington, Davine Thames Oliver, MCConia Thames; six step great grandchildren, KaʹLani Brockington, Wynter Peterson, Cam Oliver, Paris Thames, Jayveon Thames, Messiah White; one sister, Shelby Jean (Jack) Cooper Jones , Lugoff, SC; one brother, Bobby W. Mooneyhan of Columbia, SC; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Cooper, Eligin, SC and Belinda Mooneyhan, Columbia, SC; a special friend, David Hill; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held 2:00 PM til 6:00 PM, Monday, June 12, 2023 at Hayes F. Samuels Sr., Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St., Manning, SC.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Hayes F. Samuels Sr., Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St., Manning, SC. Burial will follow in the Manning Cemetry, Manning, SC.

The family is receiving friends at his residences, 5812 Broad St., Sumter, SC.
