Mr. Douglas Burks, 78, of Smiths Station, AL passed Wednesday, June 7, 2023 in Smiths Station, AL.

Graveside service to be held 10:00 a.m. EST, Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Evergreen Memorial Park, 4500 St. Mary's Road, Columbus, GA with Rev. Cornell Battle, officiating, Rev. Dr. Timothy Reynolds, eulogist. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 13, 2023 from 11-5 p.m. EST.

Mr. Burks was born September 24, 1944 in Columbus, GA to the late Samuel Burks and the late Alberta Reese Burks.

Mr. Burks joined the Greater Bethelpore Missionary Baptist Church, Salem, AL under the pastorage of Rev. David Core. He graduated from Carver High School in Columbus, GA in 1964. He had a love for trucking and retired from the Bickerstaff Trucking Company of Phenix City, AL. He was a people person and never met a stranger.

He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted friend, Jessie Floyd of Smiths Station, AL; one brother, Clarence (Cora) Burks of Saginaw, MI; one aunt, Emma Reese of Columbus, GA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
