Dannie Rogers Griffin

04/05/1928 - 06/06/2023

Mrs. Dannie Griffin was born April 5, 1928 to the late Joe and Arlena Rogers of Carthage, Mississippi. She was one of fourteen children born to Joe and Arlena. She attended school in the Leake County School System. She later obtained her GED and attended Mississippi Valley State College in Itta Bena, Mississippi where she received a certificate in Early Childhood Development. She was employed with the Ofahoma Headstart program as a Trainee and Resource Teacher for seventeen years.

Mother Griffin was united in marriage to the late Thomas Griffin who preceded her in death. She and her husband produced eight children, four boys ans four girls. Three children preceded her in death. She leaves three sons and two daughters, James, Thomas Luvell, Darrell, Sandra and Ruth (Willie). She also valued her grandchildren, Tracy (Michelle), Maurice (Ruth), Toya, Nadia, Chandra, Sheena, and Jamal. Moreover, she adored her great grandchildren, Tyler, Tanesha, Javin, Jeremiah, Hannah, Samantha, Raven, Lauren, James, Jeremy, Sigourney, Jaitin, and Jace. She affectionately called Mo-Wa (mother) by her children and she knew that meant mother/mama!

Although she loved her children and their off springs unconditionally, she did not discriminate against other children in the community of far off. She demonstrated concern, compassion, and love and this was all inclusive, i.e., nieces, nephews, neighbors, and others. She served as a mother in a godly manner. She was well known in the community for her selfless acts of kindness and her love for Jesus. If you met her, she would pray and make sure you knew something about Jesus. She prayed unceasing for many because she was indeed a child of God. She and her husband were founders of Faith and Deliverance Apostolic Church in Carthage, Mississippi.

Mother Griffin loved spending time listening to old sermons and conducting her phone ministry. Ninety-five years of life was indeed a gift from God. She was a role model for her community and she left some difficult shoes to fill. Prior to her departure on June 6, 2023, she had a few visits from neighbors, friends, and the report from all were consistent with her life style. She stayed the course praying or having others pray. One person reported they had never met her in person but the impact she had on her life was impeccable. Rest in peace Mo-Wa! Rest in peace.
