Williston, SC - Miss Emma Bernice Smith affectionately called Bernice, 63, transition into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 4, 2023, at Aiken Regional Medical Center, Aiken, SC. Memorial service for Miss Emma Bernice Smith will be conducted on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Simmons Funeral Home of Williston, Inc. & Cremation Service with Reverend Beverly J. Ashley and Minister Jackie O'Neal officiating.

Ms. Emma Bernice Smith was born July 4, 1959, in Williston, SC. She was the daughter of Mary Smith and the late Emmitt Smith, Jr.

At an early age Bernice joined the Silver Spring Baptist Church.

Bernice worked as a cook for Hardees. She loved her family and friends. Bernice had a smile that would brighten up your day. She lived life to the fullest.

Bernice was preceded in death by her father Emmitt Smith, Jr., three brothers; Wallace Dukes Smith, Sr, Emmitt Lee Smith, Terry Marshall Smith and a sister; Shirley Brown.

Bernice leaves to cherish her loving memories; her loving and devoted mother, Mary Smith of the home, two brothers, Rogers (Doretha) Smith of Clinton, SC and John Barfield of Williston, SC, five sisters, Brenda and Rosa Smith of Williston, SC, Falessa Ashley of Blackville, SC, Lizzie Sanders of Blackville, SC and Juanita Smith of Williston, SC, one uncles, James “Bubba” (Terotha) Dukes of Blackville, SC, three aunts, Mary (David) Elam of Aiken, SC, Floral Young of Brooklyn, NY and Edith Dukes Cook of Williston, SC, one sister-in-law, Patricia Smith of Aiken, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, other relatives and friends.

I'm one of the sister in laws and I've known berine was her name from me.i I don't know what to say because I'm torn .I remember we use to play spread from 730 am till 230 pm we went to get her every morning and took her home before time for Tom as we called him got home from work.we laugh cry and had lots of fun.she was also known to be the best momma roller I knew.im truly going to miss my girl rest easy no more pain suffering or sorrow I love you till the end Sharlene Jackson mobley

Ms.Bernice was such a sweetheart woman,always smiling even she wasn't feeling well. She had a smile that just made you feel better. To know her was to love her. She will truly be missed but never forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends....R.I.P Ms.Bernice ❤️🙏😥
