Mrs. Betty P. Anderson, age 88 who resided at 411Kinchen Lane, gained her wings on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on September 2, 1934 to the late James Parker and Luella Jones. On October 30, 1958, she happily married Henry Anderson, Jr.
She attended Dasher High School and furthered her education by attending Valdosta Technical School where she obtained a certification in Childcare and Development. She was employed with Owen Illinois Bag Plant for 15 years. She was a caregiver at Childcare Network for several years before retiring.
She was a devoted and faithful member of St Paul A.M.E. Church until her health failed. She diligently served in many areas of the church. She was a Choir member, a Stewardess and a Trustee. She was active in the Hands Ministry. She served on all capacities of the Women’s Missionary Society. She was a member of the Global Bible Study Fellowship. She regularly attended Bible Study and Sunday School. As a result of her beautiful and generous spirit, she was loved and she will certainly be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Anderson, Jr.; her father, James Parker; her mother, Luella Jones; her daughter, Brenda Jackson.
She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memories to her two grandchildren, Daryl Rayford of Jacksonville, FL and Nikki Young (Fred) of Lake Park, GA; four great grandchildren, Daryl Rayford, Joseph Edwards, Khloe Young and Dee Dee Rayford; her best friend, Mrs. Tillie Mae Johnson; a host of relatives, friends and the St. Paul A.M.E. Church Family.
The celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 419 S. Ashley St., Valdosta, GA 31601. Rev. James McKenzie, pastor, Pastor David F. Richards, III, officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held Friday, June 23, 2023 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
