James Russell Walden, the son of the late Johnny and Pearlie Walden, was born on the 18th day of September, 1929, in Apex, North Carolina.

James departed this earthly life into everlasting life on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Walden; two sons, James and Carl Walden; four brothers, Archie, Lonnie, Luther, and Homer Walden; four sisters, Cora Walden, Glendora Hinton, Hattie Raines, and Iva Womble.

James was united in holy matrimony to Helen Walden for 69 years. To this union, two daughters, Barbara and Jackie, and two sons, James, and Carl Lee, were born.

James was educated in the Wale County school system. James joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church at an early age.

He was a kind and loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle, brother-in law, and father-in-law.

James leaves to cherish his memory: his two daughters, Barbara Moore (Ralph) of Greensboro, NC, and Jackie Burt (Wade) of Fuquay-Varina, NC; bonus daughter, Debbie Judd of Apex, NC; one sister-in-law, Osia Seagraves of Apex, NC; twelve grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; three godchildren; special friends who came to visit, Albert Walden, Willie Walden, Dorothy Womble, Bob Womble, and Wayne McMaster; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other beloved friends.

Funeral will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2520 Richardson Road Apex, North Carolina 27502.
