John Baldwin Jr., was born November 28, 1940 in Columbus, Georgia. He departed this earthly life and went to be with his Lord and savior on June 18, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents John Baldwin, Sr. and Lizzie Franklin Baldwin.
John attended Spencer High School in Columbus, Georgia and moved to Montgomery, Alabama. John’s early employment consisted of being a hospital orderly and running errands in a local drug store. He later completed CDL training and was employed with the Montgomery Area Transit System for 49 years where he held positions as bus driver/trainer and street supervisor. He worked occasionally as a drummer for local bands. John remained an employee with Montgomery Area Transit System until his untimely death. Other than his parents, John was preceded in death by a son Maurice Baldwin; brothers Pearlie, Elijah, and Willie Baldwin, Eddie King and Ronnie Thadd; and one sister Mary Baldwin Washington.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife Vivian Baldwin; three sons, Kenneth (Mirian) and Juan Baldwin, and Dakar Leonard; one daughter Denise Williams; one brother, Donnie Thadd; the mother of his sons, Virginia Baldwin; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a bonus family, Richard, LaToya and Alexandria McClain and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Friday, June 23, 2023 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Ross-Clayton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Brassell Cemetery.
