Annie Lee Lane

Annie Lee Lane, the daughter of Rev. Willie and Rosa B. Lane was born, March 11, 1946 in Palatka, Florida. She was known to family and friends as Ann. Ann was raised in Palatka, where she was Baptized and attended Calvary Baptist Church under the Pastoralship of Rev. Green. She was active in Sunday school and the Usher Ministry.

A 1964 graduate of Central Academy High School, she was voted “Most Likely to Succeed” in her class. She was also a part of a group called the 5 Hearts (Ann Lane, Vivian Bryant, Betty Boyd, Dora Jones, Patricia Ellington) which won many talent shows. After graduating High School, Ann attended both St Johns River Community College (Palatka) and Volusia Community College (Daytona Beach); where she received a Business and Nursing Degree. Moving back to Palatka from Daytona Beach, she accepted a job as a Nurse with Dr. Lawrence Hebel. Dr Hebel was very fond of Anne and treated her as a family member. In 1968, she had her first daughter, Kimberly. In 1969, Ann was crowned Sepia Lady Of Extravaganza.

In 1971 Ann moved to N.Y. and in 1973 she gave birth to her second daughter Rhonda and third daughter Jamila, in 1978.

Ann worked as a Keypunch Verifier and Supervisor for various companies from 1972-1980. In May 1980, she began working as a Customer Service Manager for Playmore Inc Publishing Co. until she retired in June of 2001. In early 2002, she left the big city and returned to Palatka to assist with being a caretaker for her mother.

Not one to keep still, Ann held several positions of work in Palatka including working at Palatka Health Care, Wings N Things, Crestwood Nursing Center, Child Care and Walmart.

She was an active member of Passionate First Born Church under the Leadership of Elder James Mathews. Ann attended Sunday School faithfully and served within the Usher's Ministry. She was also the church’s Secretary until declining health prevailed.

Annie Lee Lane went home to be with Our Lord and Savior on Sunday June 18, 2023 at her residence, surrounded by her, daughter Kimberly Scott and Sister, Rosa M. Brown.

Annie Lane was proceeded in eternal rest by her father, Rev. Willie Lane Sr., mother, Rosa B. Lane, brother, Joseph Lane and grandson, Raquan Coleman.

Ann leaves behind to continue to love her Three (3 ) daughters: Kimberly, Rhonda, and Jamila, Sixteen (16) Grandchildren & Twelve (12) Great-grandchildren, Three (3) Sisters: Priscilla Appling, Minnie Means, Rosa M. Brown, Brother: Rev. Willie Lane Jr. (Fay), Godsister Wilma Wiggs and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Family and Friends, including Godchildren: Pat Arline Brown, Elder James and Lady Charlotte Mathews.

The Lane family will receive friends and the community 6-7 p.m., Friday, June 30, at Passionate First Born Church, 1708 Madison St. Palatka
A Celebration of Life will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, July 1, at Servant Church (Calvary Church‘s old location) 322 N. 10th St. Palatka, FL. Interment will be held in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
