Deacon Corey L Johnson, Sr.

Passed 07/07/2023

Corey Lamont Johnson, Sr., received the gift of life when he was born on April 4, 1972, in Jackson County, Florida, to Karen P. Johnson and Ralph A. Johnson. He was the oldest of four children born to this union.

At an early age, through the guidance of Ms. Ruth Bess, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. It was instilled in him the importance of family. Corey later joined New Hoskie Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood, Florida, under the leadership of Reverend Waymond Roulhac. He was faithful to the church and was ordained a Deacon.

Corey was employed at Bob Pforte Dodge as a car detail technician, a job that he loved. He enjoyed detailing so much that even after he stopped working at Bob Pforte, he would still wash and detail vehicles. He loved to see the finished product of his detailing and the joy it brought people when they would see their vehicle.

Corey was an all-around type of person that loved being with his family and friends. Some of his best passions were cooking, grilling, fishing, and just being in the company of family. He especially loved fixing cars and riding on road trips with family and friends. He even went to the race track to watch the races.

In 2009, Corey married Brandy Highsmith. This union was blessed with four children, two of whom preceded him in death.

On Friday, July 7, 2023, in Southeast Alabama Medical Center with family at his side, Corey made his transition from life on earth to eternal life in heaven. Corey will always be remembered for his love for people, his family, and friends. He will forever linger in their hearts as he leaves a tremendous void to all that knew and loved him.

Corey was preceded in death by two children, Omarion and Oreyanna Johnson; his maternal granddad, Elijah Jackson, Sr.; paternal grandmother, Melissa ‘Lady’ Johnson; and a sister, Sharon Johnson.

Corey leaves a lifetime of love and treasured memories with his wife, Brandy H. Johnson of Marianna, FL; parents, Karen P. Morgan and Ralph A.
