Detroit Campbell, 69 of Oak Ridge, NC passed July 9, 2023. Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC. The family will receive friends Monday, July 17, 2023, from 11:30 p.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the Mary D. Perry Memorial Chapel (Perry-Spencer Funeral Home), Madison, NC with funeral service beginning at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Walnut Cove, NC.

Detroit “June Bug” Campbell, Jr. was born to the late Detroit Campbell and Margret Dalton Campbell in Stokes County, NC on February 2, 1954, and departed his life on Sunday, July 9, 2023.

He graduated from Northwest Sr. High School. Before his illness he was employed at Bill’s Pizza. Detroit was a humble and kind man. He didn’t meet any strangers. He loved his family and enjoyed walking at Oak Ridge Park. Detroit loved sports – A true “Tar Heel Fan”.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers; Burt and David Campbell, his brother-in-law; James Davis, nephew, Henry Davis and niece, La Dawn Campbell.

Detroit was a loving brother, uncle and great uncle. Those left to cherish his memory are three sisters: Argie Davis, Alice Veasey, Linda Abbitt (Chester). Three brothers; Edward Campbell (Amy), John Campbell and Terry Campbell. One sister-in-law, Vernell Campbell and a host cousins and friends. Uncle June Bug, you truly lived your life with no regrets, you will be deeply missed.
