Funeral services for Mr. James A. Moore, 79, of 2104 Brentwood Drive, Orangeburg, SC, will be held 11:00am, Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at North Orangeburg United Methodist Church, with interment to follow in Belleville Memorial Gardens. Rev. Derrick Cattenhead and Rev. Eddie C. Williams are officiating.
Mr. Moore will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
James Allen Moore, the son of Mary (Bailey) and Walter Moore, was born on October 7, 1943. He entered into eternal rest July 18, 2023.
James was a member of North Orangeburg United Methodist Church in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He was an active member of the United Methodist Men and engaged in numerous volunteer work opportunities.
James was educated in both private and public schools of Orangeburg and Kings (Brooklyn, NY) County. He was a 1963 graduate of Wilkinson High School.
James had an outgoing, witty, and charming personality that touched the hearts of many family and friends. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. James relocated to Brooklyn, NY, where he served as an auto mechanic at Midas Muffler for 38 years.
On November 26, 1986, James married the love of his life, Clara (Sprinkle) Moore. They built a home together filled with unconditional love for one another, until he was called home to be with the Lord.
James was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Robert Lee Riddick, Mary Elizabeth Morris, Walter Moore, Dorothy Moore, Fannie Moore, Alexander (Emma) Moore, and Thomas Moore.
James is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Clara A. (Sprinkle) Moore; oldest son, Antone (Aretha) Sprinkle-Moore, Curtis Lorenzo (Diana) Sprinkle-Moore, and daughter, Belinda Tara (Quintin) Ryant; one sister, Ruth Rose Moore of Georgia; sisters-in-law: Ella Mae Jennings of Orangeburg, SC, Bernice Tyler McMillan of Brooklyn, NY, Carolyn Sprinke of Orangeburg, SC and RoseMary Baker of Orangeburg, SC; brothers-in law: Louis Sprinkle of Orangeburg, SC and Joseph (Helina) Sprinkle of Orangeburg; one god-son, Jamel Lawton (Kentucky); five biological and 5 step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and dear friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2023, from 1:00pm - 6:00pm.
