Mrs. Marjorie Jones peacefully passed away on July 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 70. She was born on April 7, 1953, in Ridgeway, South Carolina, to her parents, Tilman Jones Sr. and Geneva Belton. Marjorie's upbringing in Ridgeway instilled strong family values and a deep appreciation for her roots, shaped by the wisdom passed down by her parents and her second mother, Frances Mae Belton Cook.
Marjorie embodied boundless love and compassion throughout her life, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness and warmth for those who knew her. She was a beloved mother to Nichole Marsh (Marcus) and Hope Lawrence-Grisson (Kerry), and a cherished grandmother to Marcus Marsh Jr. and niece, ShiMiya Lovejoy (Robert), held a special place in her heart, as Marjorie loved her as if she were her own daughter. Marjorie was also a loving sister to Tillman Jones Jr. (Norma - deceased), Melvin Jones (Shirley), Lynn Henry, Lindsey Jones (Geraldine - deceased), Elroy Jones (Sharon), Franchis Cook, Cheyenne Jones, Gwendolyn Thomas (Theron), and Angelia McKeiver. Her heart extended to her extended family, cousins, and friends, whom she considered as dear as family.
Her faith was essential to her life, and her involvement in the East Market Street Seventh Day Adventist Church was a significant part of her daily routine. Marjorie actively served as a Lady's Auxiliary and Chancellor choir member, church treasurer, and building committee member, finding comfort and joy in worship and service to God and her community.
Marjorie's professional journey included working as a dedicated secretary at Travelers Insurance and making a significant impact during her time at the US Federal Courts Probation Department. Her retirement in 2015 marked the end of a fulfilling career, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, professionalism, and kindness.
Outside of work, Marjorie found joy in spending time with her family, cooking delicious meals, and organizing gatherings filled with laughter. Her impeccable sense of style, love for bright colors, and warm-hearted nature made her a beloved and unforgettable presence in the lives of those around her.
Marjorie's love, faith, and compassionate nature will continue to inspire and uplift those touched by her life. Her absence will be deeply mourned by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace, and may her memory bring comfort and strength to her family and friends. Her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will forever be remembered with fondness and gratitude, as she brought immeasurable joy and happiness to those she touched.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, August 6, 2023 12pm East Market Street Seventh Day Adventist Church 1800 East Market Street Greensboro, North Carolina. 11am Visitation.
