James Monroe McCullar, 86 of Stoneburg, TX, passed away Tuesday, July 25th, 2023 in Nocona, TX.

McCullar was born February 5, 1937 in Alvarado, TX to David and Tiessie McCullar. He graduated from Paschal High School in 1955. After graduating he went to work for Southwestern Bell, which later became AT&T, and worked there until 1992, when he retired at the age 55.

On April 28, 1959, McCullar married Patty McMurray in Fort Worth, TX. In February the couple moved to Stoneburg, where they resided for the last 51 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Tiessie McCullar; his wife, Patty McCullar; and great-grandson Korbyn McCullar.

McCullar is survived by his daughter, Michelle McCullar of Stoneburg; sons, Mike McCullar and wife Laurie of Bowie, Sloan McCullar and wife Becky of Stoneburg, and Shawn McCullar and wife Penny of Stoneburg; sister, Billie Teague and husband Dawn of Fort Worth; niece, Latricia Halferity of Fort Worth; nephew, Randy Sisk of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Kandis McCullar, Ryley McCullar, Brandi Long, Brittani Hutson, Cole McCullar and Cameron McCullar; and 11 great-grandchildren.
