It is with great honor that we announce the homegoing of George Simon Bronson, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and dear friend. George Simon Bronson transitioned on Friday, July 28th, 2023 at the age of 84 years of natural causes. He will forever be lovingly remembered by his children, George W. Bronson (Patricia), Valerie Bronson Miller, Keith Bronson (Ivanie) and five grandchildren, Jennifer, Phillip, Alexander, Xavier, and Jonathan.
George was born in Ocala Florida on September 5th, 1938 to Alonzo and Alice Bronson. On September 2nd, 1961 he married Patricia Gadson. He graduated from Florida A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1966. He worked on servicing Nuclear Reactors for Westinghouse as an engineer. He enlisted in the Army and then served in the reserves as a Master Sergeant for a total of 30 years. He was Senior Instructor 3288 USARF School out of Greenville South Carolina and was Commander of VFW Post 9349. He served as a Deacon at Ebenezer Baptist Church for many years, and in 2022 became a member of Vanguard Church with his wife.
George loved serving and teaching others in his family, church, and community. He could light up the room with a good story, his infamous laugh, and bring joy dancing to the Electric Slide. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held in his honor at Breakthrough Nation Church, 235 E Blackstock Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301 at 1:00 p.m. on August 5th. Flowers and condolences may be offered at J.W. Woodward Funeral Home, 594 Howard Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303. He will be laid to rest at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
