Darrin Keith Greene, of New York, passed away on July 29, 2023 in Carthage, New York at the age of 59. He was born on October 29, 1964, in New York City to his parents, Nathaniel and Dorothy Greene. He attended Martin Luther King High School in Manhattan, NY, and graduated in 1984. When he was 18 years old, Darrin decided he wanted to join the U. S. Army. Darrin was stationed in various locations during his military career, which includes the following: Germany, Italy, Turkey, Fort Riley (Kansas), and Fort Drum Army Base in Carthage, NY. He was a decorated veteran who served in the United States Military for a total of 30 years, of which 15 years were done in the Reserves after active duty. Darrin received the following metals and decorations during his military career: Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Army Lapel Button, Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon(2), NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Marksman 1st Class, Army Achievement Medal with 1st OLC and the Humanitarian Service Medal. When he wasn’t working, Darrin had a passion for the outdoors and hip-hop music and culture. You could often catch him singing lyrics to old-school rap and sharing his insight. Darrin loved the Lord and believed that he was on this earth to serve and help others as Christ did. Sergeant Greene was an accomplished Petroleum Engineer, a loving son, and a brave and honorable soldier. in Carthage, NY, at the age of 59. Darrin was preceded in death by his father, Nathaniel Greene. Surviving are his mother, Dorothy Greene and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins who will carry on his legacy. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 14 at Scott's Chapel, 116 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Dr. Kirkland R. Walton officiating.
