Mr. Charles Rondale Douglas, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at his residence.
Funeral will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 12 pm Trinity AMEZion Church 631 E. Florida St., Greensboro, NC. Visitation 11:30 am.
Burial will take place Monday, August 7, 2023 at 10:00 am Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3910 Forest Lawn Dr. Greensboro, NC .
Charles Rondale Douglas, known by many as: “Big Slinky”, “Cholly”, and “Slim”, was born February 17, 1954. He was a graduate of James B. Dudley High School, followed by entrance into the United States Military Army Branch. There he received a National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal and was honored as a Militant Sharpshooter. Charles was a man of many gifts and talents. He was a licensed Cosmetologist, mastering cutting and hair coloring. Charles loved cooking, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. One of his exceptional dishes was his “15 Hour Savory Brisket”, which was showcased and loved at his daughter’s wedding. He was the life of every gathering. His dance moves and personality always stole the show.
Charles was known as the Gardener of Trinity AME Zion Church where he was a member for many years. He was also a member of “The Original Twelve” Biker’s Club and was a former employee of Guilford County Schools as a Custodian.
Charles was born to the late James Douglas and Emmie Carson Douglas. He leaves behind one daughter, Brendalyn Douglas Clark (Travis), and finance’ Pamela Luther, two sisters and two brothers: James Hubert Douglas (Marietta), Vagella Douglas Smalls (the late-Whaley), Lester Douglas (Arlene), and Patricia Douglas Kerns (Scott). He also leaves six grandchildren: Nazaria Thomas, Nehemiah Taylor, Naomi Taylor, Jasmine Clark, Leilani Clark, Camri Clark, one great-granddaughter – Amira Phillips, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Charles was a loving father, devoted grand-father, and one of his favorite sayings was “I’ll Be Here”. He will be greatly missed by all.
