Obituary For Mrs. Mary Ivey Walker

Mrs. Mary Ivey Walker of Thomaston, GA. passed away on Wednesday August 2, 2023. Visitation will be held on Friday August 4, 2023 from 1:00P.M. until 6:00P.M. Graveside services for Mrs. Mary Ivey Walker will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 2:00P.M. at Olive Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Luther Ivey Walker was born on July 14, 1937, to the late Mrs. Ruby Lee Jones Ivey
and the late Mr. Luther Ivey in Roberta, Crawford County, GA. She was educated in the
Crawford County public schools.

At an early age, she joined the Olive Grove Baptist Church. During her early years, she served
on the Usher’s Ministry. She enjoyed the preaching and teaching of the word.

In l958, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Grover Cleve Walker, Jr. To this union, six
children were born. To help support her family, she was employed by Martha Mills Textiles for
over twenty-four years. She was a devoted wife and mother who was loved by her family. She
and her husband shared forty-five years together until his passing on April 14, 2003.

During her leisure time, she enjoyed cooking, especially for her family; caring for her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and watching her gospel programs and cooking shows.
She knew all her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews’ birthdays and would call them on
the day of their birthday and tell them what time they were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Mr. Curtis “Big Red”
Ivey. On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, the Lord called her name. She answered the call and
went home to eternal rest. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory six children, Mr. David (Melody) Walker of Thomaston,
GA, Mr. Alvin (Sherrie) Walker of Jacksonville, FL, Ms. Angela Walker of Phoenix, AZ, Ms.
Stacy Walker, Mrs. Mae (Willie) Little and Mr. Dexter (Machelle) Walker all of Thomaston,
GA; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren and four great-great-
grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Sherman Gray of the Salem Community and Mrs. Cleve (Gary)
Green of Thomaston, GA; two brothers, Mr. Melvin Ivey of Detroit, MI and Mr. Sollie Ivey of
Roberta, GA; sister-in-law, Mrs. Katherine Kemp-Ivey of McCrae, GA; and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Trice Funeral Home Of Thomaston will be in charge of all arrangements.
