Josie Bell Jackson was born July 9, 1921 in Valdosta, GA to the late Mr. Willie and Mrs. Rosa Crawford.
She received Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of the West Adair Street Church of Christ and now Woodlawn Forrest Church of Christ where she served faithfully until her death.
Josie attended school at the Magnolia Elementary School in Valdosta. After her completion of school, Josie met and married Leroy Jackson, Sr. They were married for fifty-seven years and three children were born to their union. Josie and her husband owned and operated the Soda Shop together.
Josie was a loving and supportive mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was dedicated to her family. Her favorite hobbies were quietly reading her bible daily, baking cakes (she loved her desserts), being a seamstress, planting flowers, growing a vegetable garden and she loved sending greetings and holiday cards to her family and friends. She loved her peaceful country living. She was a diligent woman. She loved God, her home, her family and her church. She worked hard to make a pleasant home for her family and to raise her children in the right way. We were always greeted with a beautiful warm smile and a great sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends.
Later in life, she relocated to be close to and enjoy her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
On Thursday, August 3, 2023, Josie Bell Jackson was called home to be with her Lord and Savior. She received the greatest grace of eternal peace, where there is no sadness or tears. Josie was a wonderful blessed lady. It was a pleasure and honor being a part of her life for so many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Rosa Crawford; her husband, Leroy Jackson, Sr.; two children, Leroy, Jr. and Edward; one daughter-in-law, Christine; one grandson, James; two sisters, Clara and Francis; one brother-in-law, Leroy Balloon.
