Reverend Clarence Bloom Trescott, II

A celebration of life honoring Reverend Clarence B. Trescott, II, 92, will be held at 12 noon on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Terry's Mortuary Chapel. Interment will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on August 11th. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you embrace his passion for helping those in need by giving of time and resources as acts of thanksgiving to God for His bountiful blessings toward each of us.

Reverend Clarence Bloom Trescott, II was born to the union of Bernice Smith and Clarence Bloom Trescott on February 4, 1931, in Charleston, South Carolina joining one sister, Cecile Trescott. Later, she married Dr. Randolph Bromery of whom she also preceded in death.

Reverend Trescott graduated from Avery Institute with his high school diploma. he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina and a Master of Divinity in Theology from Cummins Episcopal Theological Seminary in Summerville, South Carolina. He began pastorage in 1952, was ordained a deacon and Itinerant Elder in the AME Church.

His work experiences focused on helping others, which was his passion in life. An avid reader, he loved aiding indigent person, spreading laughter and listening to classical music. He served as director of the Goldsboro, North Carolina Boys' Club, a teacher in the Charleston Public School System as well as Charleston Center Director for Information and Referral Poverty Program.

Employed by Talladega College as the college chaplain, during his tenure there, he worked as Psychological Counselor, Coordinator of Religious Activities, Academic Advisement and teacher of Philosophy and History of Religion.

Upon moving to Talladega, he immersed himself in volunteer service to others, fulfilling the call of ministry. Reverend Trescott served as pastor of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, later served as pastor of First Community Church and was past president of the Talladega Ministerial Association. He served as the Talladega College Manager for the Honorable Barbara Boyd and worked as an outreach worker with the Talladega Mental Health Clinic.

Reverend Trescott was recognized for his support of the Boys and Girls Club of Calhoun County, joined the Greater Talladega Area Chamber of Commerce North Talladega Leadership Class of 2000, served as on-call chaplain for Citizen's Hospital, participated in the RSVP Volunteer Program and volunteered as a cook with the Red Door Kitchen of Talladega.

Clarence married to Reverend Gertrude H. Trescott and they were blessed with three children: Tanya (Remus) Harper and their children Mario and Gene, Bartholomew (Liza) and their children Carmen and King, and Cathy Trescott Owens (deceased) and her children Jason and Krystal.

Later he married Dr. Erminel Love Trescott and their 38 year marriage has been blessed with two children: Clarence III (Megan) and their daughter Calyx and Simon Paul.

His memory will also be cherished and remembered by the children of his sister Cecile (Bill): Keith (Elizabeth) Bromery and son, Marc; Dennis (Linda Marston) Bromery; Carol (John) Thompson, children: John, Jr., Jason, Justin and Jennifer, and grandchildren: Jordan, Jemma, Jasmine, Joshua, Jacob and Johnna; David (Tanya) Bromery and children: Hannah, Grace, Chloe and Celeste; and Chris Bromery and children: Olivia and Katherine.
