Margie Weaver peacefully passed away on the morning of July 13, 2023, in Austell, GA, at the age of
89. She was born on January 23, 1934, in Beaumont, TX, to the late William and Mable Hopper. Margie
was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Margie is survived by her loving husband, Gilbert Weaver (of whom she shared 70 years of marriage),
their son Lomax Weaver, and daughter-in-law LaNitha Weaver. Margie will be forever remembered by
her grandchildren Christopher Weaver, Alia Michel, Jon Weaver, Adam Weaver, and great-grandchildren
Logan Michel, Mila Michel, and Gabriel Weaver. Margie also leaves behind her brothers William Hopper
and Ralph Hopper, sisters Myrtle Jules (her twin) and Iris White, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margie was preceded in death by her daughter Ava Weaver, brothers Carl Anthony and Bobby Hopper.
Margie may have been born in Texas but her heart was in New Orleans, Louisiana where she was
raised. New Orleans was home and it had a major influence on her speech and cooking style. She
loved to cook for family and friends. After marrying Gilbert in 1953, she moved to Chicago, Illinois. Los
Angeles, California was home for over 40 years where she was employed as a day care teacher
providing love and care to young children and guidance to their parents. To be closer to their
grandchildren Gilbert and Margie moved to Powder Springs, Georgia in 2001 where Margie was active in
her community. She was a loyal friend and she spent quality time in service and fellowship with the
Mature Women's Group of Marietta Christian Church.
Margie will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a kind and spirited woman. Her desire to
serve others touched the lives of many, and her memory will be cherished forever.
