Obituary For John Henry Hairston

On Friday, August 11, 2023, John Henry Hairston 83, of Third St., Martinsville transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at Rocky Mount Health & Rehab Center. He was born in Virginia on June 9, 1940, the son of the late Doc Benjamin Hairston, and the late Bonnie Hodge Hairston.

In addition to his parents, John Henry was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Mae Haislip, Jeanette “Dias” Gravely.

John retired from Hooker Furniture Company after many years of service, He attended Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, and George Washington Carver High School.

Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Marlon Hairston (Sherria), and Johnathan Hairston both of Martinsville, VA; one daughter, Angela J. Hairston of Martinsville, VA; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Tracy Hairston, and Clyde Hairston both of Martinsville, VA, Jervis Hairston of Fredericksburg, VA, and Bernard Hairston of Myrtle Beach, SC; one sister, Rachal Hairston of Martinsville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home. The burial will be private. A public viewing will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home, 803 A St., Martinsville, VA.
