Obituary For Louis Johnson

Louis Cleven Johnson, affectionately known as “Juicy” and “Big Lou” by family and friends, was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the Reverend Dr. Louis C. Johnson and Lynn Jackson Meney.

Louis received his formal education in the Susquehanna Township School District, Class of 1997. He studied Psychology while attending Germanna Community College in Locust Grove, Virginia in 2004 and briefly attended Harrisburg Area Community College in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 2005. Starting while he was still in high school, he was employed part-time by Ambassador Home Improvements where he went from cold caller to full-time Team Leader within three years and “lead writer”. Throughout his life, he has pursued many passions in literature and the arts, part of his journey includes working in the back of a rented space of a kosher kitchen deli in DC with the founder of what would later become the largest multi-billion-dollar plant-based meat company in the United States known as “Beyond Meat”. Lou’s career ended at Dairy Farmers of America in manufacturing.

A lifelong artist, comedian and die-hard Pennsylvania sports fan including Penn State, Eagles and Sixers. Louis made a lasting impact on every person he encountered. There is a long list of family, friends, classmates and colleagues that have fond memories of how he made them laugh and smile. A dedicated, exceptional, loving father to his son, who was also known to show the same love and care for his many nieces, nephews, his son’s friends and schoolmates.

Louis Cleven “Big Lou” Johnson, at the age of 45 years, unexpectedly departed this life on Friday, August 11, 2023 at his home due to diabetic complications. Among all of his successes and achievements, Lou’s greatest source of pride and joy came from his son, Louis “Baby Lou” Cleven Johnson-Crum. In addition to his son, he is survived by his father, Reverend Dr. Louis C. Johnson and his mother and step-father, Lynn Jackson Meney and Greg Meney; his lifelong partner and mother of his child, Julia Crum; his sisters, Kelly Bethea (Marques) of Atlanta, Georgia, Angelica Johnson-Fletcher of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Shariah Kenley (Marvin); his brothers, Greg Coleman, Louis C. Johnson, Jr., Louis Pascal Johnson of Germany, Eric D. Johnson and Tertius Johnson (Iris); his grandmother, Janie A. Jackson and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Tristan A. Crum.

His life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 21, 2023 in the Chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home with viewing and visitation 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

My brother touched everyone he encountered. He literally loved EVERYBODY. He was kind, loving, forgiving, gentle, understanding and patient. He was the absolute best person I knew. I cherish the time we spent together. He made me laugh when I was mad. He would make me happy when I was sad. When I was down in life,he would reach his arm out and lift me up. When I accomplished Anything in life,he was there to cheer me on. I'm not sure how I can do this without Big Bro. I look forward to seeing you again one day in Heaven. Please watch over me and our family. I'm going to try to have the kind of heart that you did. It's so hard. So incredibly hard. I pray God touches my heart with some kind of peace that can surpass my understanding. This pain is unbearable. My only light through this is I will see you again one day. And I look forward to walking in heaven with you my dear bestest of friends, and my beloved brother. Rest in Heaven. Until we meet again.🙏🏽🥹💔😢🙏🏽
