Mr. Edritt Todd Mathis, 62, affectionately known as Eric, departed this life Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, Georgia. Celebration of Life services will be held Friday, August 25, 2023 at 12:00 noon at Greater Second Mt. Olive Faith Center, 103 Dewey Street, Albany, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, 200 Cotton Avenue, Albany, Georgia. Meadows Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Edritt Todd “Eric” Mathis was born February 28, 1961, in Albany, Ga to the late Elijah Joseph “Peter Rabbit “Harris and Margaret Mathis Murphy. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Steve Wendell Murphy, grandparents S.C. and Annie Ruth Wilson Mathis, Uncles Henry Lee Mathis, Calvin Mathis, Jimmy Earl Mathis, and David Alvin Mathis, aunts Jeanette M. Solomon and Addie Lavern Mathis and nephew Jonathan Todd Jones.
Edritt was affectionately known as Eric or Lee to everyone who knew him. Where Lee originated from I can’t tell you. Eric was a quiet man with a humble spirit. He was the Oldest Grandson of S. C. and Annie Ruth Wilson Mathis. Eric grew up with his Uncles and Aunts, everyone thought Eric was their brother. Eric was closer to his younger Uncles David and Carl they were much closer in age. Whenever you seen them, you will see David, Clifford, Carl, and Eric. Eric loved and Adore his Family, Eric was a giver. He was to make sure his Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Aunts had some pocket change. Eric‘s close family and friends knew he was trustworthy, dependable, and very blunt if you asked his opinion about something. Eric acknowledged very few people as his friends. As time went by Eric realized he needed more than Big Daddy’s he needed the real Daddy “
Father God”. Eric reunited with his Church Family at the Greater 2nd Mt. Olive Baptist Church under Pastoralship Rev. Lorenzo Heard. Eric took great joy in acknowledging that he was his Pastor. Dr. Rev. Harriette Gainer, Deacons Earl Crawford, Edward Flewellen, and Willie Colliers. Eric looked forward to your Prayers, Communion, and Visits to the Family Thank You.

Eric was educated in the Dougherty County School System. Eric was a graduate of Dougherty High School Class of 1979. While in Highschool, Eric participated in one Season of football along with his Uncle Carl, Alvin Hines, and Frank Plummer they all just used that to be a girl magnet, neither one of them was that serious and had game. After Graduating Eric, his Uncle Carl, Alvin Hines, and Frank Plummer all decided to Enlist in the United States Army. This afforded Eric the opportunity to travel and see the World.
Eric returned back to Albany, Ga after getting out of the Army. Eric loved and enjoyed watching football, baseball (especially those “Atlanta Braves”) Days of
Our Lives, Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy.
