The funeral services for the late Mrs. Christine Yancy, who departed this life on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. from the New Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Ashburn, Georgia. The Pastor, Reverend Wesley Spears will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery in Ashburn, Georgia. Mrs. Christine McKay Yancey was born on December 20, 1951 in Buena Vista, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. George McKay, Sr. and Mamie Thompson McKay.

At an early age, Christine, accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. By way of Christian Experience, she later joined the New Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Christine was united in Holy Matrimony to Sammy Lee Yancey, Sr. on August 13, 1968. This union was blessed with three children.

Christine was a devoted wife and mother; she loved spending time with her family. In her spare time, she loved to barbecue on the grill and go fishing. She gave unconditional love, words of wisdom and expressed kindness to all. Christine touched the lives of all of those she met. She will always be remembered as “Big Ma” with a big heart.

Our beloved “Big Ma” took an angel’s hand and left this earthly realm and moved to Eternal Rest on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at South Georgia Health & Rehabilitation in Tifton, Georgia. Her parents, her siblings, Katherine Marshall, Lucille Goodman, Joe Lewis McKay, Dorsey McKay, her brothers-in-law, Charlie Yancey, Henry Yancey, have all preceded her in death.

Christine leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Sammy Lee Yancey, Sr.; her children, Sammy Lee Yancey, Jr., Tracey (Marcus) Farrie, Danzel (Nikki) Yancey; her grandchildren, Curtis Lee Milsap, Jr., Telvin Yancey, Channing Yancey, Jacora Smart, Sable McWilliams, Jacolyn Smart, Gabrielle Gaskins, Sammy James Yancey, Cohen Yancey, Haven Yancey; six great grandchildren her siblings, Betty McKnight of Columbus, Georgia, Elsie (Calvin) Chukes, Eula McKay, George (Sabrina) McKay, Jr., all of Tifton, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Regetta Yancey, Josie Mae Yancey; a brother-in-law, A. D. Yancey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
