Perry Drake Nesbitt

Perry Drake Nesbitt answered the Master’s call on August 25, 2023 after a long battle with dementia.

He was born January 4, 1959 to the late Deacon Alfonza and Sister Ida Nesbitt in Woodville, Georgia. He was the second of five children.

He joined St. Paul Baptist Church at an early age. He attended school in the Greene County School System. He started his work life early by working for his father who owned a pulpwood business. He left the school system to honorably serve in the United States Army where he received a General Education degree. His chosen career was as a Mechanical engineer. After the stint in the Army, he went to Athens Tech and specialized in Heating/Air. He loved taking things apart just to see how it worked. He worked for Climate Control, Chipman Union, NIBCO and lastly as a maintenance supervisor for PruittHealth.

Perry was joined in Holy matrimony to Hilda Armour on June 1, 1996 and to that union was born one daughter, Akeiba Nesbitt.

In addition to his parents, Perry was preceded in death by his uncle Harvey Jr., aunt Gwen; in-laws: Bernice, Mack (Shirley), Anna Mae (Louis), Eugene and Louis.

Left to cherish his memory are a caring and devoted wife Hilda Nesbitt, a loving daughter Akeiba, a grandson Keiton Nesbitt; siblings: Ethel (Scottie) Williams, Andrea (Alton) Collins, David and Lennon Alfonza (Barbara) Nesbitt Jr.; his in-laws: Richard Powell, Helena Hall, Edith Smith, Emma Jean (Jerome) Redd, Cornelius Armour, Mary Jane (Robert) Curry, Elizabeth Harden, a ride until the wheels fall off sister in-law Pamela (Rickey) Smith; his aunt Essie C. Miller and uncle Ralph Joel Nesbitt, Sr. He also leaves his best friend, Tony McWhorter, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Services: Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. from St. Paul Baptist Church, Woodville, Ga. with Pastor Willie Chester Jr., Presiding and Pastor Lance Pitts, Eulogist.
