Alma Killebrew

Alma Louise Goosby Killebrew was born to William and Laura Goosby on August 22, 1953. Alma was affectionately known as Killa, Goosby, and Deborah (her favorite). She received her wings on Tuesday August 22, 2023, her birthday.

Alma accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into her life at a young age at the Pentecostal Temple COGIC under the leadership of Bishop J.O. Patterson Sr. She later went on to join the Olivet Baptist Church under the leadership of K.T. Whalum Sr until joining Olivet Fellowship Baptist Church.

Alma was a graduate of the Hamilton High School class of 1972.After graduation she received a degree from Shelby State Community College and several licensures.

Alma worked in many different capacities throughout her life. She worked at Cleo Wrap for over 15 years before retiring. In addition to Cleo Wrap Alma served as a foster mom, a crossing guard for Memphis City Schools and a home health care professional. In her spare time, Alma loved listening to WDIA, WLOK, WBBP, watching her favorite church broadcast on tv, spending time with Sheila, going lunch dates with her sister & nieces and talking on the phone with family and friends.

Alma was preceded in death by her mother and father, William and Laura Goosby, her sisters, Bobbie Jean, Patricia, and Jenny V, and brother, James Arthur (Sane).

She leaves to live on in her memory her loving children, Keisha Killebrew (Star and Lily), Marcus Killebrew (Tameka, Luke, Loganne, and Leah), beloved furbaby Sheila, Ashland Clark (god daughter), Millie Sutherland (sister), George Goosby (brother); nieces Toya Webb, Tracy Chaffen, Angela Davis Johnson, Kenya Morgan, Vanessa Butler, Donna Jones and nephews Darryl Smith, and Kevin Herron. Alma also leaves many loving great nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.

The family has scheduled a public viewing for Tuesday August 29, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at R. S. Lewis and Sons Funeral Home 2944 Walnut Grove Rd. Graveside services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at New Park Memorial Garden 3900 Sewannee Rd.
