Obituary For Glenda L. Penn

On Monday, August 28, 2023, Glenda L. Penn, 51, of Stockton Rd., Martinsville, transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at SOVAH Health-Martinsville. She was born on March 14, 1972, in Virginia, the daughter of Myra Gravely Hairston, and the late George Willie Penn, Jr.

In addition to her father, Glenda was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, George Willie Penn Sr., and Nannie Mae Martin Penn, and her maternal grandparents, Benjamin and Daisy Ira Gravely.

Glenda was a member of Refuge Temple Ministries where she was the church photographer. She was employed by Hanes Brand as a traffic coordinator with twenty-five years of service. Glenda was a 1990 graduate of Laurel Park High School. After graduating from high school, Glenda went on to receive an associate degree from Patrick & Henry Community College.

Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Kobe L. Price of the home; her mother, Myra Gravely Hairston of Martinsville, VA; two sisters, Tracy Keen, and Brienna Hairston both of Martinsville, VA; one brother, Bradley Penn (Veronica) of Knightdale, NC; Goddaughter, Kamori Dillard of Martinsville, VA; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Refuge Temple Ministries, 205 Clearview Dr., Martinsville with Elder Alan Preston, Eulogist. The burial will follow at the Gravely Family Cemetery, Daisy Lane, Martinsville, VA. A public viewing will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home of her mother, Myra Hairston, 130 Paradise Hills, Martinsville.
