Willie Mae Holloway was born to the late Nora Thomas and the late John Henry Griggs on March 7, 1940. She entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Piedmont Medical Center in Columbus, GA.

She accepted Christ in 1962 and joined the Antioch Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Reverend Nelson Owens. She was a member of the Usher Board, Vocal Choir, and Feminine All Stars. She passionately served as the President of the Antioch Missionary Ministry and also a field worker for the Macedonia District Association.

Willie Mae was educated in the Russell County School System. She worked and retired from Martin Army Community Hospital after 21 years of service.

Willie Mae was joined in holy matrimony to Robert Lee Holloway on August 5, 1958, and to this union nine children were born.

Willie Mae was a devoted wife and mother. She was faithful and dedicated to the well-being of her family, friends, and church members. She enjoyed outings with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed watching western shows, (Gun Smoke) was her favorite, fishing with her son and son-in-law, and completing her word search puzzle books. She was the most lovable person you could ever meet; she had a special love for her grandchildren and never missed any of their events. The holiday season was the most enjoyable moment for her. She looked forward to family gatherings, where she would showcase her cooking and baking skills. Most of all, she enjoyed being with the love of her life, her husband, “Lee.” She always looked forward to his breakfast call every morning. She never had to worry about breakfast, unless Lee wanted salmon and biscuit and that was not very often.

Willie Mae was preceded in death by four amazing children, Amos Holloway, JoAnn Holloway, Betty Ann James, and Royal Holloway.

Willie Mae leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband of 64 years, Robert Lee Holloway; two amazing sons, Henry Holloway (Velneka Williams) and Patrick (Jeannine) Holloway; three loving daughters, Martha (Alphonso) Allen, Irene “Jackie” (Edward) Poole, and Monica Thomas; a devoted granddaughter whom she raised as her own, Arleshia (John) Barnes; two sons-in-law, Curtis James and Shedrick Thomas; two daughters-in-law, June Holloway and Sandra Holloway; one brother, Roosevelt (Annie) Thomas; two sisters-in-law, Estella Miles and Martha (Cornell) Clay; a special niece, Bertha Davis; two god daughters, Tammy Andrews and Paula (Bruce) Jones; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
