Graveside services for Mr. Otis Wright, 78, of New Jersey, and formerly of Orangeburg, SC, will be held 11:00am, Monday, September 18, 2023, at St. John United Methodist Church Cemetery, 5337 Columbia Road, Orangeburg.

Otis Wright, 78, of Ewing, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Capital Health Medical Center -Hopewell. He was born on December 17, 1944, to Thomas and Lurline Wright in St. Matthews, SC.

Otis attended John Ford High School in Saint Matthews, SC, where he graduated in 1963. He married Eula Wright on December 19, 1987 and they enjoyed over 35 years of a beautiful marriage.

He worked for King’s Oil, North Princeton Developmental Center, and New Jersey State Hospital, from where he retired after many years of dedicated service. Later, he was employed by Hopewell Valley School District as a bus aid and driver for 10 years.

Growing up, Otis enjoyed playing baseball and this passion planted his love for sports in general. He was a sports enthusiast, especially for football and baseball. He tended to favor and support the Giants and the Phillies, but would spend his free time watching anything on ESPN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lurline Wright; and siblings, Ulysses, Fletcher, Jessie, Hercules, Booker T., and Lemuel Wright.

Otis is survived by his beloved wife, Eula Wright; children, Darrell Thomas (Glenda), Kermit Thomas, Alicia Fairweather (Dwight), and Nicky Brown; grandchildren, Dimitri (Richard), Ashley, Darrell Jr., Damani, Ayana, lan, Aaliyah, Mia, and Alyssa; great grandchildren, Isaiah, Alexis, Tristian, Kinsley, and Ryder; siblings, Shirley Eisom, Dibble Wright (Shirley), and Celestine Conner.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 17, 2023, from 4:00pm - 6:00pm.
