Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie Ruth Felder Void, 70, of 621 River Road, Rowesville, will be held 11:00am, Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Brown Chapel AME Church, with interment to follow in Belleville Memorial Gardens. Rev. Dr. Harold Wilson is officiating.
Mrs. Void will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. During the quiet of the afternoon hours of Tuesday, September 12, 2023, Mamie Ruth Felder Void peacefully entered eternal rest at her home in Rowesville, South Carolina.
The life of Mrs. Mamie Felder Void began in Orangeburg County. She was born on February 25, 1953, the young child of the late Daniel Felder, Jr., and Rosa Lee Gardner Felder.
Mamie was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County and was a 1971 graduate of Wilkinson High School. While in school, she was a student bus driver and a member of the marching band. She also served as Treasurer and vice-president for her class reunion. After graduating from high school, she attended Claflin College (University).
Growing up in a devoted Christian family, Mamie accepted Christ at an early age and joined Andrew Chapel Baptist Church, where she diligently and faithfully served as an usher. Later, she moved her membership to Brown Chapel AME Church, her mother's church. After affiliating herself with Brown Chapel, Mamie became continually active with the Women's Missionary Society. She also served on Stewardess Board No. 3.
Mamie loved giving of herself and was always involved in the programs of the missionaries. She was very visible when the missionaries had a project and always participated. She loved being around the children, especially in the playground area. Mamie was the Queen representing Brown Chapel's Missionary Society at the Orangeburg Area WMS Banquet and Parade of Queens. She served as Treasurer of the Orangeburg Area WMS.
Realizing the importance of work, Mamie was employed most of her teenage years and adult life. She worked on various jobs and retired from the Orangeburg County Consolidated School District after 29 dedicated years as an Administrative Assistant and Bus Driver.
Mamie's led an interesting and fulfilling life. The sparkle in her eyes was her grandchildren. She traveled to many places to include Germany, Texas, Virginia.
Being a Christian,. Mamie's life was devoted to serving Christ by serving others willingly, with love and dedication. She volunteered with the Lunch Program in Rowesville, SC, for the children during the school break and other activities for the children and senior citizens.
Mamie was formerly married to Terrell Gene Void, and they were blessed with three sons.
Mamie was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Daniel Adam Felder, III; paternal grandparents, Daniel and Mamie Felder; and her maternal grandparents, Adam and Lillie Gardner.
Mamie's life, tilled with fond memories, will forever be cherished by her three sons: Jarrett Terrell Void, Rowesville, SC, Terrell Gene Void, Jr. (Kim), Durham, NC, and Veon Andreas Void, Orangeburg, SC; her loving and devoted sister, Carolyn J.F. Groom (Richard), Rowesville, SC; ten grandchildren, Chavier Void, Destiny Smith, Kwishawn Void, Kwiajah Void, Kwiahrra Void, Kwiyoun Void, Kwixaria Void, Myles Void, Quianna Lewis and Quisha Lewis; sister-in-law, Rosa Felder; two aunts, Gloria Gardner and Dorothy Felder; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates and friends, her fur babies; Ring Eye, Mikey, and rigger.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2023, from 4:00pm - 6:00pm.
