Tony Stephen Stubbs, a.k.a. “Bo Stubbs,” was born on October 19, 1961, in Vienna, Georgia, to the late Leanna Buckles Stubbs and the late Isiah Bo Stubbs. At an early age, he became a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Unadilla High School, Class of 1981. Tony played sports in school but was best known as a talented member of the marching band on the drums and cowbells. After graduation, he played recreational basketball for many years and was nicknamed “Dash.” He was a die-hard Raiders fan, and during football season or anytime, he enjoyed hanging out and trash-talking with the fellas, as he called them. He could get rowdy sometimes, but he was a very charismatic, funny, hard-working, and caring man. Tony loved his hometown. Throughout his life, he worked many jobs for various employers within the city of Unadilla, but he was well-known for his skills as an auto detailer. He took pride in making cars shine, and he was good at it. Until he became disabled from work in 2018, he worked at Flint River Services/Lineage Logistics as a certified forklift operator, and he was also a beloved staff member of Alvie Coes Funeral Home for many years. On Sunday morning, October 1, 2023, Tony transitioned from this earthly life. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Watkins Stubbs; two daughters, Yolanda Stubbs and Kimesha Stubbs; four grandchildren, Xavier Stubbs, Ja’Mier Lawrence, Ka’Mari Lawrence, and Ka’Mya Lawrence, all residing in Warner Robins, Georgia; longtime companion, Valerie West of Unadilla, Georgia; three sisters, Jacquelyn Stubbs Robinson of Union City, Georgia, Ora Marsh of Rochester, New York, and Contrina Taylor of Chester, Virginia; thirteen nieces and nephews, Alesia Robinson, Tyler Robinson, Javon Anderson, Devin Anderson, Latishia Seegars, Tiera Anderson, Sierra Hamilton, Jermichael Taylor, Akeem Hamilton, Dominique Taylor, Jasmine Hamilton, Lexus Martin, and Shaquille Taylor, as well as great-nieces and nephews; four aunts, Mary Buckles, Mildred Efford, and Delia Roundtree, who all reside in Warner Robins, Georgia, and Rosa Rice of Henderson, Georgia, who he talked with everyday; one uncle, Leon Buckles of Unadilla, Georgia; and cousins, Willie and Ann Bolden, whom he revered as an uncle and aunt. Tony had special bonds with many of his cousins, and he truly loved his family. After surviving a stroke in 2018, Tony’s life was forever changed, and he had to adapt to a new way of living. He was grateful for family and friends who visited him regularly and were always there to help as needed, Reginald and Jackie Zanders, Jerome Cade, Mattie Oliver, Marvin Oliver, Roosevelt Buckholts, Jr., Ethel Harris, Eddie Foster, Donald Martin, Chris Caldwell, Mario Freeman, Regina Manning, Emma Hill, and his best friend, William Foster. He leaves many mourning hearts and will be dearly missed by a host of other family, friends, and loved ones.
