ROBERT WESLEY SHANK, SR., son of the late Mildred Shank and the late Elmer Shank, Sr., was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
He received his formal education in the Harrisburg Public School District and graduated from John Harris High School. He enlisted with the United States Army – RA Military on June 25, 1977 and faithfully served his Country for two years. During his working career, he worked at Allen Distributors as a Forklift Operator for several years.
In his leisure, Robert enjoyed watching his favorite football team the Pittsburgh Steelers, good or bad that was his team.
On Sunday, September 24, 2023, at the age of 65 years, Robert Wesley Shank, Sr. transitioned to eternal life in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Elmer Shank, Jr. and he leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Nakia Sloane-Ritter, Shaunte Sloane, Jamey Carter, Sr., Aisha Shank, Mikal Shank, Robert Shank, Jr., Da’Shay Shank and Davia Shank; his longtime companion, Myrna Stills; his stepchildren, Asia M. Young and Carlton M. Young; 22 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his brother, Carlos Shank, Sr.; his favorite cousin, Lorraine “Jackie” Braxton and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert's life will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023 in the Sanctuary of Grace Temple Church of The Living God, 300 Pine Street, Steelton with viewing and visitation 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
