Warren Lewis Sr., Master Barber, “Mayor of Warrentown,” aka “The Fire Barber.”

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Warren Lewis Sr., who left this earth on Sunday, October 8, 2023. Born in 1932, Warren grew up in a family of seventeen children in Louisville, MS, to Lemon Lewis and Jennie Mae Carter Lewis. The visitation will be held on Friday, October 20th, 2023, from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at R. S. Lewis Funeral Home, 3651 Austin Peay HWY, Memphis, TN 38128. The Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 21st, 2023, at 11 AM at Pentecostal Temple C.O.G.I.C, 229 S. Danny Thomas Blvd, Memphis, TN 38126. Burial will be held after the service at New Park Cemetery, 4536 Horn Lake Road.

Warren Lewis leaves behind two devoted children, Vanessa Kay Little and Randy Lewis; five adoring grandchildren, Frederick J. Little Jr., Valisia LeKae Little, Sheree Desiree’ Lewis, Randy Isom Jr., and Darandis A. Lewis; and seven great-grandchildren, Frederick Little III, Mathew Elijah Lewis, Joseph Micah Lewis, Peter Isaiah Lewis, Khamari Spence, Siyah Elise Isom, and Gabriel Warren Mendenhall. In addition, His eldest son, Warren Lewis Jr., along with his 16 brothers and sisters who preceded him in death, welcomed him to his heavenly home. A host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and a community of family, friends, and many loved ones will forever remember him for his wisdom, courage, tenacity, generous spirit, community activism, fire-cutting technique, and love for the people and the city of Memphis. Mr. Lewis served as a barber for seventy-two years. He cut hair until three weeks before his death. He was 90 years old.

Warren Lewis came to Memphis in 1951 and joined Pentecostal Temple C.O.G.I.C. in 1962. He was member number 124. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials and tribute gifts be sent to Pentecostal Temple COGIC, 229 S.
