Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Haynes Amaker, 90, of Orangeburg, SC, will be held 11:00am, Friday, October 20, 2023, at Olive Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 305 Old Elloree Road, Orangeburg, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Amaker will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Margaret Haynes Amaker was born June1, 1933, in Calhoun County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Henry Clay Haynes, Sr. and Mrs. Lottie Bovain Haynes.
She was educated in the public schools of Calhoun County. For many years, she worked for various families in the Orangeburg County area.
She was a member of Edisto Fork United Methodist Church for many years; however, after her health began to decline, she started attending Olive Grove Missionary Baptist Church with her children and became a member.
Margaret entered Holy Matrimony with Frank James Amaker, Sr. in 1949. This union was blessed with six children: Aline Williams, Margaree Mays, Annie B. Wade, Carrie M. Amaker, Henrietta Watts and Frank James Amaker, Jr.
Her husband preceded her in death in February 2016.
She leaves to cherish fond memories, five daughters: Aline Williams of Brooklyn, NY, Margaree Mays, Annie (Isadore) Wade both of St. Matthews, SC, Carrie Amaker of Orangeburg, SC, Henrietta (Macon) Watts of Cope, SC; one son, Frank James Amaker, Jr of Orangeburg, SC; one adopted daughter, Jeannette Dukes of Orangeburg, SC; bother-in-law, Harry Dukes of Charleston, SC; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and dear friends.
Public viewing will be held Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 1:00pm - 6:00pm.
